Courtney Kampa was born and grew up in Virginia. When it comes to her educational background, she did her schooling in Virginia itself. She later received a degree in BA from the University of Virginia and an MFA from Columbia University.
She came into the limelight when her poetry appeared in The Boston Review, Three Quarterly, Missouri Review, The Wall Street Journal, National Poetry Review, and the New England Review, and a lot more publications. Courtney was the recipient of the Press’s First Book Award for her debut novel Our Lady of Not Asking Why, which was selected by Mary Szybist, a National Book Award winner.
