How did Savannah Lee Johnson die? What was his Cause Of Death?

On Wednesday, December 22, 2022, three-year-old Savannah Lee Johnson of Syracuse, Utah tragically passed away after a bravely fought battle against pediatric brain cancer. It was an incredibly heartbreaking tragedy for her family and close friends that still leaves them in shock and disbelief to this day. Savannah was faced with tremendous adversity throughout her short life but through it all, she showed tremendous courage and strength and fought on with much resilience.

Despite the best efforts of the doctors, Savannah could not overcome the severity of her illness. How we remember Savannah is certainly bittersweet, but it’s important to recognize what she taught us during her time here on Earth: a reminder to always look for the positivity even in times of great difficulty. That message surely resonates with us all and serves as a beautiful legacy left behind by young Savanah Lee Johnson.

What Is Pediatric Brain Cancer?

Pediatric brain cancer is an umbrella term for a variety of tumors or malignancies that occur in children under 18 years old. These tumors are usually located in the brain or spinal cord and are classified according to cell type and location. While there are many types of pediatric brain cancers, some of the most common include medulloblastoma, ependymomas, gliomas, and primitive neuroectodermal tumors (PNETs).

What is the Causes of Pediatric Brain Cancer

Unfortunately, the exact causes of pediatric brain cancer remain unknown. However, scientists have identified several factors that may increase a child’s risk for developing the disease. These include exposure to radiation or certain chemicals such as benzene or formaldehyde; family history; genetic syndromes; immune system disorders; and environmental toxins such as pesticides or lead paint. In Savanah Lee Johnson’s case, it is unclear what caused her tumor to form.

Treating Pediatric Brain Cancer

Pediatric brain cancer treatment typically involves a combination of surgery to remove the tumor if possible; chemotherapy; radiation therapy; targeted drug therapy; immunotherapy; stem cell transplantation; or clinical trials involving new treatments such as gene therapy or monoclonal antibodies. Unfortunately, these treatments do not always work as hoped for and often come with difficult side effects including fatigue, nausea, hair loss, hearing loss, infertility issues due to chemotherapy drugs used during treatment—just to name a few. In Savanah Lee Johnson’s case it appears that she was unable to beat the disease despite all efforts made by doctors and family members alike.
