The next superhero series from the mega-franchise to debut on Disney+, “Marvel Secret Invasion,” is filled with that frantic plea. Dark in both the literal and symbolic sense, the series promises that this isn’t the wham-bam, whizzy-fizzy kids’ material of Marvel’s past. This one is a political one. The topic is identity. The topic is espionage. God forbid, if takes place in Russia. It must be a major issue.
Marvel Secret Invasion
Because it’s challenging to understand what’s happening in each scene, the six-episode miniseries “Invasion” (streaming Wednesdays, out of four) fails to live up to its ambitions of being Marvel for adults.
The first two episodes that have been made available for review are a flurry of people, places, battles, and explosives with little connecting them. It is (slightly) established that Ben Mendelsohn’s Talos and other “good” shape-shifting alien Skrulls are fighting some very evil ones with Fury, a former secret agent turned freelance good guy.
Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir), the leader of the terrible Skrulls, wants to rule the globe and establish a new Skrull utopia. (They lost their home world a few decades ago, and “Invasion” presume you know the story of 2019’s “Captain Marvel.”)
The evil Skrulls must be stopped from doing some very horrible things, like initiating World War III or, worse yet, corrupting Talos’ daughter G’iah (Emilia Clarke). Fury and his secret spy team, which includes Cobie Smulders and Martin Freeman, must achieve this. Olivia Colman, who is always present, is also there, chewing up the scenery as an unethical MI-6 agent who belongs in a completely different TV show.

Marvel Secret Invasion Comic Book:
“Secret Invasion” is a major comic book storyline published by Marvel Comics. It involves a secret infiltration of Earth by shape-shifting aliens known as the Skrulls. The Skrulls, who can impersonate anyone, including superheroes and political figures, gradually reveal themselves, leading to a massive conflict between the Skrulls and Earth’s heroes.
The storyline has been adapted into various forms of media, including a live-action television series by Marvel Studios titled “Secret Invasion.” The series, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), features characters such as Nick Fury (played by Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (played by Ben Mendelsohn) from previous MCU films. The plot details of the series are not extensively known, as it is still in development as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021.
It’s worth noting that new information about the “Secret Invasion” series and its storyline may have been released since then. To stay updated on the latest details, it is recommended to refer to official announcements from Marvel Studios or reliable sources for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
