TENNESSEE, U.S.- A Teen couple, Austin Moffitt and Alexis McCann, died in a T-Bone crash between their Jeep and an 18-wheeler semi-truck at a Tennessee. Read on to know what happened and who were the two teenagers that were killed in the Tennessee crash.
The tragic accident took place Thursday night when Moffitt couldn’t stop the Jeep at the intersection. Their families and friends are mourning the loss of the young beings who had a long life to live but sadly couldn’t.
Austin Moffitt and Alexis McCann Died in Tennessee Crash
Their Jeep then drove straight into a 2019 Freightliner from the driver’s side killing both the passengers. Moffitt and McCann were pronounced dead on the scene when the police arrived around 9:30 PM.
The truck driver was not injured in the accident and didn’t try to escape from the scene. No charges have been filed. All three involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts according to the reports.
Who were Austin Moffitt and Alexis McCann?
Austin Moffitt, 18, and Alexis McCann, 19, were a teenage couple from Tennessee. The two graduated from Sequatchie County High School this past May. They had been reportedly dating from their high school days.
Austin Moffitt was a highly talented high school football star. He received a total of five offers this college football season. The teams included Black Knights, Midway Sprint, Cumberlands, Carthage, and Tusculum.
He was all set to start his college football career with Cumberlands this year before dying in a terrible 18-wheeler wreck alongside his girlfriend Alexis McCann in Tennessee.
Alexis McCann was also a beautiful and talented college student who was in her freshman year. She met Moffitt at the Sequatchie County High School where the two started their relationship.
Tributes Coming in for Austin Moffitt and Alexis McCann
Ever since the heartbreaking news of Austin Moffitt and Alexis McCann’s passing emerged, people have been paying respect to the teen couple who died in the Tennessee crash.
The Sequatchie County Football Facebook page led the tributes. “Austin was a wonderful young man and an outstanding football player. He will always be remembered in our hearts. Alexis was his biggest fan,” the page wrote.
“So heartbroken to hear the news of the loss of a former player and students of mine,” a former coach wrote on Facebook. “Austin Moffitt was such a great young man and player.
“Alexis was such a sweet girl and a great student. She worked extremely hard. This is such a devastating loss for the community. They will both be missed by many. Pray for these families.”
The football team is accepting donations to help the families cover funeral costs. It will be hosting a BBQ on October 7 in Austin’s honor.
