Stephen was born on August 26th, 1944 in England and quickly established himself as a talented actor. One of his most famous roles was that of Travis in the British science fiction series Blake’s 7 which ran from 1978 to 1981. He also starred in three series of Citizen Smith alongside Robert Lindsay and Paul McDowell, and played Signor Donato in the classic comedy Casanova with Peter O’Toole. In addition to this he had roles in many other television shows such as Red Dwarf and Doctor Who, as well as films including The Scarlet Pimpernel, Apartment Zero and A Kind of Hush.
As well as being a talented actor, Stephen was also an experienced director having directed many plays for stage and television. He received awards for directing plays such as Romeo & Juliet at the Royal National Theatre and Henry VIII at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre; both productions were met with critical acclaim. As well as directing plays he also taught acting classes at the University of Southern California’s School of Dramatic Arts where he encouraged aspiring actors to hone their craft while developing their own unique style.
