On December 26, 2022, the football world was shocked to hear of the sudden passing of Bosnian midfielder Bojan Jamina. The 22-year-old had a short but impactful career as a footballer, playing for Bosnia & Herzegovina’s U21 national team in one game. Who was Bojan Jamina?
Bojan Jamina started playing football at a young age and showed promise right away. At 16 years old he signed with FK Borac Šamac in Bosnia & Herzegovina where he quickly worked his way up to first team starter and played over 50 games in three seasons. His performance was so impressive that scouts from other teams couldn’t help but take notice.
In 2019, Jamina moved to Serbian top flight side FK Partizan Belgrade. It was there that he developed into the player he would become known for—a midfield maestro who could control the game with ease. His technique was impeccable and his vision was second to none; it was clear that this kid had something special about him. In 2021 he made his debut for Bosnia & Herzegovina’s U21 national team in a friendly against Kazakhstan where he scored two goals in a 5-0 victory—solidifying himself as one of the rising stars of international football.

It is a tragedy that Bojan Jamina’s promising career was cut short due to an unfortunate training accident at Partizan Belgrade on the 24th of December 2022. What could have been a celebration was instead ended in tragedy as Bojan passed away two days later due to complications from his injuries, leaving behind mourning friends and family, and a deep void in the football world.

A former youth European champion and with a bright future ahead, Bojan was affectionately known as ‘The Magician’ for his elegant performances on the pitch. His untimely death marks a devastating loss to the world of football and all who knew him; it is hard not to explore what could have been had Bojan’s life not been taken from him so abruptly. The wife of Jamina. He was an extremely good man. And football. I remember his debut for U21 BiH. This was in 1999. years against France on Grbavica. He lost the life game today. Rest in peace God’s master.
Bojan Jamina may have been taken from us too soon but his legacy will live on forever through those who knew him and admired him as a footballer and person alike. He will always be remembered for his skillful play on the pitch as well as for being a true gentleman off it – characteristics which all aspiring players should strive for in their own careers.
