Lenart was accused of killing a bartender named Oberta Toney during a robbery in 1993. She was found in a closet behind the bar at the Anderson Lounge. She was found lying face down with her hands crossed under her chest.
After being found guilty of these charges, Lenart was sentenced to death for the first-degree murder of Oberta Toney by a Shasta County jury on October 6, 1995.
