It is with a heavy heart that we remember the passing of Brandon Smiley, son to well-known American stand-up comedian, television host, actor, and radio personality Rickey Smiley. Brandon passed away on January 29th, 2023. He was a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and had a large following on social media platforms. Who was Brandon Smiley?
Brandon was born in Georgia and raised by his father Rickey Smiley along with his brother Aaryn Smiley and sister D’Essence Smiley. He attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham graduating with a degree in Communications & Media Arts in 2012. After graduation he started working as an assistant director for his father’s TV show “Rickey Smiley For Real” which aired from 2013 to 2018. Brandon was also featured in other shows such as Family Feud and Judge Mathis.
How did Brandon Smiley die? What was the cause of his death?
As of now there is no official word on what caused Brandon’s death but it is speculated that he died due to health complications related to diabetes which he had been diagnosed with since 2014. He suffered from severe kidney damage due to diabetic ketoacidosis which led to him being placed on dialysis while awaiting a kidney transplant. Despite this setback, he continued living life to its fullest with Brooke Antonette who has been his girlfriend since at least 2018.

Rickey Smiley was born on August 10, 1968 and is an American stand-up comedian, television host, actor, and radio personality, renowned for his prank phone calls. On July 6th, 2020 news broke that Smiley’s daughter Aaryn had been shot in a road rage incident the weekend prior. In 2023 it was announced that Smiley’s son Brandon had tragically passed away. As well as being a well-known celebrity figure, he is also a proud member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity having have been initiated into its Psi Rho graduate chapter. Smiley and his family have suffered some heartbreaking tragedies through the years but it’s clear they are all united during their time of need.
