51-year-old, Cleveland firefighter Johnny Tetrick passed away unexpectedly on Saturday night after being struck by a car on I-90 east at Martin Luther King Jr., and a driver is now in Cleveland police custody.
According to officials, the tragic accident occurred on Saturday around 8:15 p.m. on a rollover crash near the I-90 exit. After hitting the firefighter, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but the Police of Cleveland caught the driver.
Cleveland police found the 40-year-old suspect’s vehicle early Sunday and arrested a Cleveland resident. Tetrick was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The Cleveland City Council stated about Johnny Tetrick, “the 51-year-old firefighter was devoted to his work as a first responder and was a much-loved member of his family and the community.”
