Who was David Jurney?
David was deeply respected by both students and faculty members alike. He was known for his enthusiasm in teaching and mentoring young minds. He was considered a unique professor who taught with passion. As an experienced professor at OC, he instructed students in a range of mass communication courses including Media Production, Broadcasting Workshop, Advanced Creative Production, Television Field Production, Audio for Media and Photography Principles and Practices. His classes were often filled with laughter as he encouraged students to explore their creative potentials. He always spoke highly of his students’ work and provided them with valuable feedback that helped them develop their skills further to make them successful media professionals in the future.
Throughout his time at OC, David received numerous awards including Teacher of the Year Award from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) in 2020 for his outstanding work in teaching media production classes. He also served as an adviser to various student organizations such as SPJ chapter at OC and Student Television Network (STN). In addition to this he also actively participated in several community service projects including providing media training to disadvantaged youth groups from local communities.
