Kaylee Gansberg, a Western Michigan University student, has died after getting struck by a hit-and-run driver on Saturday, August 27th, 2022 near the university’s Kalamazoo campus. The deceased Kaylee Gansberg, 21, was a student at Suburban College.
Early Saturday, around 2:30 a.m., the college student was with a friend near the university campus when the tragedy occurred. Kaylee was struck by a driver in the 2700 block of West Michigan Avenue near Howard Street. She was found lying on the road by the road but the driver had fled, who was later arrested, the police informed.

Kaylee, who was a 21-year-old student at Western Michigan University, hailed from Lisle, Illinois. The college senior was an honour student, majoring in improbable arts and centred significantly on photography. She was a former Lisle High School scholar student who used to participate regularly in art-oriented competitions.
Kaylee’s parents also revealed that she was also passionate about painting. Even before the night of the accident, Kaylee was working on a painting. She was an explorer who wanted to travel the world and photograph architecture after completing her graduation.

Who killed the Western Michigan student ?
Kaylee Gansberg, the Western Michigan University student, died after getting involved in a hit-and-run accident with a vehicle near the 2700 block of West Michigan Avenue early Saturday.
The police officers informed that the driver, who was a 22-year-old Kalamazoo resident, had been operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was initially able to flee the accident scene. However, he was taken into custody by the police a short time after the incident on related charges, police added.
Kaylee’s family informed that her friend performed all required life-saving measures until the paramedics arrived at the accident location. However, she was not able to recover from the injuries and died in the hospital on Sunday, August 28.

Talking about his daughter, Kaylee’s father, Keith Gansberg, said, “For me, she will always be my sweet little girl. She had the most beautiful smile and brown eyes. I’m going to miss them so dearly and I am going to hurt forever without having her in my life.” “We only had a few hours with her before we lost her completely,” he added.
Kaylee’s mother, Michele Gansberg, said, “We were there for her first heartbeat, and we were also there for the last.”

Many of Kaylee’s classmates and friends from Western Michigan University came together to pay their respects to their late friend, Kaylee. One of her sororities, Chi Omega, took to her Instagram handle to mourn the loss of her dear friend.
