Who is Josiah Brown?

Josiah Brown was a three-year-old toddler who recently passed away after being pushed into Lake Michigan by his 34-year-old aunt, Victoria Moreno. His body was found after about 30 minutes of searching in the lake. The boy was rushed to Lurie Children’s Hospital in a very critical condition, where he died.

Josiah’s family is totally devastated after the death of their 3-year-old child, as he was the one who used to keep the house loaded with fun. Josiah Brown’s grandfather described his grandson as “a bundle of joy” who was always “full of energy,” wanted to do “almost everything,” and “loves his dad.”

How did Josiah Brown Die?

According to the local Authorities, toddler Josiah Brown was pushed into Lake Michigan on September 19 by his aunt, Victoria Moreno.  After pushing him into the lake, she stood by as Josiah’s body sank below the water.

As Lake Michigan is very deep, the divers had to work really hard to find Josiah’s body. They found the body after almost 30 minutes of searching. After taking his body from the lake, the toddler was immediately taken to the nearby Lurie Children’s Hospital where he was declared dead by the doctors.

What happened ?

Josiah’s aunt, Victoria Moreno, initially told the responding officers that she was only a witness to the drowning incident, then she claimed that she was holding the boy’s shirt and let go because he “was acting up.” In contradiction to her statement, surveillance video has shown she suddenly pushed Josiah into the lake water and didn’t try to save him.

According to the police, the toddler boy was walking with his aunt on the path next to Lake Michigan, before he was pushed into the water. He went tumbling several feet into the lake, near the north end of Navy Pier. Josiah was found after a long search and taken to the hospital, but later died.

Witnesses describe about the incident

Ashton King, a witness woman who called 911 after the incident explained the horror of the entire situation. She said, “It’s one thing to see him having been in there, and it just brings it to the next level to know that it was intentional. I have a son who is about the same age as that boy. I relive the image every day as he just looked so scared and panicked, and to think that somebody he trusted put him in such a position is horrendous.”

“I wanted to jump inside the lake and help, but I had to consider all the factors of doing so while helping first responders get to the correct location, she stated.”

Everyone is in deep shock at how someone can kill a 3-year-old child and this is why we also demand strict action against the culprit. We send our deepest condolences to the family of the little soul and pray to God to give them strength in this pain and sorrow filled time. May God grant eternal peace to Josiah’s departed soul.
