FORT COLLINS, Colorado- A female student passed away on the Colorado State University campus over the weekend. Following this, the Larimer County Coroner’s office responded to the incident. The deceased has been identified as Sydney Meegan. Learn who was Syndey Meegan, how did she die, and what was the cause of her death.
The tragic event took place this past Sunday in Durward Hall. The CSU police was investigating the incident and affirmed there was no threat to the public.
Who was Sydney Meegan?
Sydney Meegan was an 18-year-old girl from Littleton, Colorado. Born on March 30, 2004, Sydney was a first-year student at Colorado State University. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority at the institute.
She was a girl with a free spirit who was always happy and funny. Sydney was the best friend of Sam, a boy from Littleton, whose parents have mourned the loss of the boy’s greatest friend. The two shared a love for music, specifically Post Malone.
Sydney was an avid fan of Lana Del Rey and was very popular on TikTok and Instagram. She had 2,453 followers on her Instagram and regularly shared pictures of herself, her friends, and what she was up to. She was also a very skilled swimmer.
How did Sydney Meegan die?
A female student was found dead on the Colorado State University campus just after the shooting on the Hill in Boulder on Sunday, October 2, 2022. The Larimer County Coroner’s office responded to the situation and identified the deceased as Sydney Meegan.
“There is no threat to the public and this is believed to have been an isolated incident,” the coroner’s office said.
A forensic autopsy was performed by Forensic Pathologist Joe White on October 3, 2022. The cause and manner of Sydney Meegan’s death are pending further investigation.
Sydney Meegan dead at 18: What was her Cause of Death?
It was initially believed that Sydney Meegan, the 18-year-old student at CSU, died in the shooting that took place on Tuesday. However, the coroner’s office confirmed that Sydney Meegan’s death was an “isolated incident.”
Sydney’s friend, Sam, was found in very close proximity to a shooting incident on the same day. Another shooting took place on the Hill later. However, Sydney Meegan reportedly wasn’t shot and the cause of her death will be released soon.

CSU Mourning the Loss of Sydney Meegan and Friends Paying Tribute
The Colorado State University is mourning the loss of its first-year student Sydney Meegan.
“This weekend, we lost a student in Durward Hall: Sydney Meegan, a first-year student from Littleton. Her mother has shared that Sydney was thriving at CSU and had just joined the Chi Omega sorority here. The cause of her death is still being determined, but no matter the cause, Sydney’s death is a deep loss to her family and friends, to the world that was brighter with Sydney in it, and to all the students in the residence halls who were impacted by the death of a fellow student here on campus,” the university’s statement said.

Sydney Meegan is survived by her mother, father, and three siblings. The funeral details are awaited at the time of writing.
