On Wednesday, the Lindenhurst Free Union School District announced that a man who was hit and killed by a train in East Farmingdale on Tuesday was one of their teachers.
How did Stephen Gosline die ?
Stephen Gosline, a high school social studies teacher in Lindenhurst, was killed on Tuesday when he was struck by a train in East Farmingdale. The Lindenhurst Free Union School District confirmed his identity on Wednesday.
Gosline was also a volunteer firefighter with Breslau Engine Co. 1. In tribute to their fallen friend and colleague, the engine company posted a message on social media saying, “He was truly a great friend, father, firefighter and officer. He will be missed dearly.”
The details surrounding the incident are still unclear. According to the district and the MTA, Gosline was hit by a train early Tuesday morning at the New Highway crossing. The investigation is ongoing.
