Soilwork Guitarist David Andersson Dies at 47: Cause of Death Explained

David Andersson, the famous guitarist best known for his work with Soilwork and Night Flight Orchestra passed away. He was 47 years old. Soilwork announced the unfortunate news today in a Facebook post. Read on to know how David Andersson died and the cause of his death.

Andersson had been with Soilwork for the last 10 years. Soilwork is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Helsingborg. It was by Björn Strid and Peter Wichers in late 1995 as Inferior Breed. They later renamed it Soilwork.


How did David Andersson die?


Soilwork announced today that David Andersson has died at the age of 47. The talented guitarist is no more in this world. The melodic death metal band remembered Andersson as a “one of a kind and a brilliant man” in a social media post.

Soilwork wrote the following to announce the emotional news and pay tribute to their late member in the post shared on Facebook and Instagram:

“We are deeply saddened today, as we bring the terrible news of David Andersson’s passing. He was one of a kind and a brilliant man in so many ways. He was our guitarist for more than 10 years and had a significant impact on Soilwork’s musical journey forward. Sadly alcohol and mental illness took you away from us.

“We will miss him dearly and will continue to carry the musical legacy that he was a part of. Our deepest condolences go out to his family. Forever grateful for the time we spent with you and all the good laughs. Thank you, Dr. Dave.

“See you on the other side. We encourage everyone to respect the privacy of David’s family and friends in these tragic times.”


David Andersson dead: What was the cause of his death?


David Andersson died at a very young age. This has left the fans curious as to what led to the brilliant guitarist’s untimely demise. However, his fellow bandmates didn’t reveal the specific cause of death.

Soilwork only cited “alcohol and mental illness” as the factors that turned out to be the cause of David Andersson’s death. Andersson was reportedly addicted to alcohol and has experienced issues with his addiction.

David Andersson had been with Soilwork for the Past 10 Years

David Andersson joined Soilwork in 2012 and had been with the melodic death metal band till the time of his death. He first appeared on Consequence, which was from the band’s ninth studio album “The Living Infinite.”

The most recent album of the band, Övergivenheten, was released just last month. It was published by Nuclear Blast. Andersson was scheduled to tour Australia with Soilwork in November this year to celebrate the new LP.

Andersson also performed with hard rockers in The Night Flight Orchestra alongside Soilwork singer Björn ‘Speed’ Strid. The duo has recorded six studio albums together including Aeromantic II, which launched last year.

The Night Flight Orchestra also pays tribute to Andersson

Andersson’s other allies, Night Flight Orchestra, have also tribute to the late guitarist.

“Goodnight sweet doctor,” wrote the band in a post shared on Instagram.

“We all hope you’ve finally found peace. We will miss you so much. You were one of a kind and a brilliant musician. Sadly alcohol and mental illness took you away from us. It hurts so much. Our deepest condolences go out to David Andersson’s family on this difficult day.”

The post concludes by stating: “His music will live on forever. Thank you for all the unforgettable times together. See you on the other side.”
