Who was Samantha Vuong?
Samantha was a junior at West Covina High School and had already achieved much in her short life. She was a member of several school organizations and teams, including the volleyball, basketball, and track shot put teams. She was also the ASB Class of 2024 Vice President, a role which she embraced with enthusiasm and dedication. Samantha had a passion for sports and was known for her leadership skills both on and off the field.
One of Samantha’s favorite hobbies was fishing, and she would often spend her weekends fishing with her friends and family. Samantha was also a hard worker and would help out at the photo booth owned by her boyfriend’s brother. Her kind and caring nature extended to her family, especially her younger brothers, whom she deeply adored and took care of.

An email went out Monday morning about a death of a student who attended WCHS. Naturally, I contacted Aaliyah to see who it was. She didn’t know at first but when she found out it was her classmate and volleyball teammate, she was at a lost for words. We all were! She cried ALL day and she was not alone. It is truly devastating to know this beautiful young woman didn’t reach out for help. We must never take anything for granted. We must always check on each other. My heart goes out to Sam’s family as they mourn and go through this 💔 Prayers to all of them!
