Rick Eshelman was a well-known announcer in the racing world. He was 61 years old when he suddenly passed away on October 1, 2022. There is still much unknown about his death, but his son has released a statement:-
“It is with deep sadness that I have to let you all know that I appreciate every last one of you, with all my heart but my Father Ricky Arthur Eshelman has taken his life and is hopefully no longer in pain,” Derrick Eshelman stated.
Rick Eshelman started his announcing career in 1977. For 40 years, he worked tirelessly to become one of the most renowned voices in the racing community. Just last month, he was inducted into the Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame, a well-deserved honor for a man who dedicated his life to informing and entertaining race fans.
In late September 2022, Rick disappeared after he left Paducah, Kentucky for Lincoln, Illinois. His truck and trailer were later found at a truck stop in Missouri, but there was no sign of Rick. It wasn’t until October 1 that his body was found near his truck. The cause of death is still unknown, but we send our thoughts and prayers to Rick’s friends and family during this difficult time.
Rick Eshelman was a giant in the racing world and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was an accomplished announcer and a kind, generous man who always had time for his fans. He will never be forgotten and always be remembered as one of the greats in the racing community.
