B.C. Officials Pay Tribute to the Woman Shot Dead in Prince Rupert
British Columbia officials, including Premier David Eby, have paid tribute to the Ministry of Children and Family Development worker who was shot dead in Prince Rupert. The statement was released on behalf of Eby, Mike Farnworth, and Jennifer Rice.
“Our hearts also go out to those who acted immediately to provide emergency care, those who may have witnessed this violence and anyone whose safety was threatened by yesterday’s events,” it states.
“We are here for you, and we will be in the days, weeks and months to come.”
Eby previously confirmed that the victim was a member of the BC General Employees Union. However, no other details were revealed.

The woman who was shot dead in Prince Rupert today has been identified as Patty Forman, 52, from British Columbia. She was a worker at the Ministry of Children and Family Development. She was also a part of the B.C. Union of General Employees.
Forman’s son, Joshua Forman, confirmed the identity of the deceased and reacted to the tragic news of his mother’s death on social media.
“As I’m sure everyone in town already knows it’s with the heaviest of hearts to announce my mother, my best friend, my teacher, and my everything … has been shot dead in a murder-suicide from her ex-fiance Shawn Yeung who then took his own life,” Joshua Forman wrote.
He added: “The last conversation we had she asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I said just a nice dinner. She smiled from ear to ear as she loved to cook and money was tight … I have been looking forward to it all week then this all happened.”
Who was the Suspect in Prince Rupert Murder-Suicide?
The suspect of the Prince Rupert murder-suicide incident has been identified as 44-year-old Shawn Yeung. He was a part of the Canadian Border Services. Yeung allegedly shot Patty Forman dead at a mall and then shot himself.

“The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is aware of the incident that took place at the Ocean Centre Mall in Prince Rupert, BC, and the involvement of a CBSA employee,” the agency wrote in an email to The Northern View on Nov. 22. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family during this difficult time.”
