The Member of Parliament from Serere County, Uganda, Bishop Patrick Okabe tragically died with his wife on Monday, December 19th, 2022, in Budaka District’s Naboa town council. The news of his death was made public by the speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among through her official Twitter handle.

Who Was Patrick Okabe?
Bishop Patrick Okabe was born in 1967 and attended Atiira Primary School for his elementary education. In 1992, he earned his bachelor’s in theology from Pan African Christian University. He also holds a divinity master’s degree.
Okabe hasn’t spoken in the House of Representatives much since his election in 2016, but our Parliament snipers have regularly seen him talking to a handful of his fellow Teso MPs in the hallways about “how to make more money.”
However, the local MP has never voiced any concern about the fact that the majority of Serere’s schools are in poor condition. There is just one pit latrine on the grounds, which is used by both teachers and children, and there are no desks, blackboards, or classrooms at one of the schools, Nananga Community Primary School.
How Did Patrick Okabe Die? Cause of Death?
Patrick Okabe, a representative for Serere County, and his wife Christine Okabe were involved in a fatal car accident on Monday morning, December 19th in Budaka District’s Naboa town council.
They were traveling in his V8 Land Cruiser with the license plate UBK 995F when, according to authorities, it collided with an Isuzu Fuso truck driven by KCX 0710. While Patrick Okabe passed away eventually on the spot due to an accident, his wife passed away on the way to the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital.
According to ASP Faridah Nampiima, a spokeswoman for the traffic police, the motorist who can only be identified as Jacob is still in critical condition at the Mbale regional referral hospital.
The Isuzu box body driver, who drifted from his side to the side of the Land Cruiser that was coming from Mbale headed to Iganga and collided head-on, has been blamed for the accident, according to ASP Nampiima.
Parliament’s Reaction to Patrick Okabe’s Death
Anita Annet Among, speaker of the Parliament confirmed his untimely demise, “I must break the sad news that our colleague, brother, and Serere County representative Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife died in a car accident this morning. I kindly ask that you all support the family at this trying time. God rest his soul.”
The Parliament of Uganda released a statement on expressed their disbelief in Patrick Okabe’s horrific accident, saying
“Parliament has learned with shock about the death of Serere County Member of Parliament, Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife, which occurred earlier this morning at Naboa on Mbale-Tirinyi road. #RIP #Uganda.”
