Orlando Bloom is the New Member to Join ‘Gran Turismo’ Team

Orlando Bloom has been cast in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game adaptation movie name ‘Gran Turismo’.

The movie will be directed by Neill Blomkamp, best known for his work on sci-fi films such as ‘District 9’ and ‘Elysium’.

Bloom will play a marketing executive who is trying to sell the sport of motor racing. The film follows a teenage ‘Gran Turismo’ player who becomes a professional racing driver.

Bloom is no stranger to action movies, having starred in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and in ‘The Lord of the Rings trilogy. He most recently starred in the Amazon Prime series ‘Carnival Row. The ‘Gran Turismo movie is currently in development and does not have a release date yet.

Jason Hall and Zach Baylin have written the script for the highly anticipated film adaptation of the popular Gran Turismo racing game series. The film is set to begin shooting in Europe this week, with a release date slated for August 11, 2023.

PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan are producing the film, along with Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti. ‘Gran Turismo’ creator Kazunori Yamauchi is an executive producer.

In a statement, Qizilbash said: “As one of PlayStation’s longest standing and most beloved franchises, it’s great to be partnering with Columbia Pictures again to bring Gran Turismo to life in an exciting way.

We can’t wait for audiences to see Neill’s vision come to life.” Hall and Baylin are best known for their work on the screenplay for the 2018 film ‘Sicario: Day of the Soldado’. It is yet to be seen if they will be able to capture the magic of the Gran Turismo games on the big screen, but racing fans around the world will be sure to be glued to their seats come 2023.
