Vernon Winfrey, the father of Oprah Winfrey, has died at the age of 88 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He passed away on Friday night in East Nashville; she attributes her success to the assistance she had from him in becoming the lady she is today. His loved ones and friends will miss him dearly, but his daughter’s achievements will carry on his legacy.
Oprah went to Instagram to express her sorrow over her father’s passing and to pay tribute to him. Her father passed away recently, and she posted a video on social media showing her friend and fellow artist Wintley Phipps performing a song dedicated to her father.
She said as the caption on the photo, “Less than a week ago, we honoured my father in his very own backyard.” Wintley Phipps, a friend of mine and another gospel singer, paid tribute to him with a song. He SENSED the love and basked in it till he could not talk for the joy he was experiencing.
“Yesterday, I had the profound honour of being present when the person who was ultimately responsible for saving my life took his last breath, and his family was gathered around his bedside. At the moment of his passing, there was a sense of peace throughout the room. That there is still a state of Peace. Everything is fine. “Thank you for continuing to keep us in your prayers and kind thoughts,” the post said.
Relationship Between Oprah and Her Father
Oprah had a solid connection with her father, in contrast to her problematic relationship with her mother, who passed away in 2018. In the early 1960s, when she was still a youngster, she was briefly dispatched to Nashville, where her father lived, to live with him.
On the other hand, when she was nine years old, she was required to move back in with her mother. Because she had to work as a maid, her mother could not take excellent care of her daughter.
