It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved REALTOR® and TPCAR member, Margo Wheeler Willis. She passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, the 28th of January 2023 surrounded by family and love. Keep reading more to know get information about her.
Who was Margo Wheeler?
Margo was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but was raised in Tacoma, Washington and was a Retired US Army First Sergeant. Margo started her career as a REALTOR® at John L. Scott Real Estate in Tacoma in 2019 after retiring from the US Army.
During her time at John L. Scott she earned her place as an esteemed member of the Tacoma-Pierce County Association of Realtors (TPCAR). Margo was an active member who served on several committees including the Grievance Committee, Professional Standards Committee, Governmental Affairs Committee, and more during her time at TPCAR. Her dedication to education extended beyond herself; she also volunteered to help mentor new agents on their journey to becoming top real estate professionals.
Margo’s Impact on Others
Margo had a profound impact on those around her through her passion for service both in and out of the real estate industry. She was actively involved in several charitable organizations such as Special Olympics Washington where she volunteered for the last 11 years – even after being diagnosed with cancer in 2020. In addition to her charitable work, Margo had many hobbies which included travel, gardening and golfing – one of which earned her recognition by Golf Digest Magazine! When asked what she loved most about being a Realtor®, Margo said it was “the look of satisfaction when I hand over keys to a first-time homebuyer or help someone find their dream home” that she found most rewarding about her job.

Today, the REALTOR® community was devastated to hear of the death of retired US Army First Sergeant Margo Wheeler this Saturday, the 28th of January 2023. A beloved member of the real estate and volunteering industry for many years, Margo’s absence will be felt deeply by many. How it happened and why are questions on everyone’s mind. Unfortunately no cause of death has been reported as yet, leaving a great number of people who cared for Margo in a state of confusion and grief, hoping to hopefully get some closure in the near future about her final moments and how she passed away.
