What happened to Mahrokh Khan? What was the cause of her death?

According to reports, around 9:00 am, she was crossing the street at Laurel and West Main Streets when a vehicle tragically hit her. She was then taken to VCU Medical Center where unfortunately she later passed away. The Richmond Police Department is now investigating this incident further, however no other information has been released yet. What happened to Mahrokh Khan is absolutely heartbreaking and our thoughts go out to her family during this time of sorrow.

Vice President Aaron J. Hart expressed his condolences to Mahrokh’s family and friends, as well as his heartfelt sympathy to all who knew her, in an email sent to students, faculty, and staff on Friday, Jan. 27th.

The statistics surrounding car accidents in Virginia are startling. According to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), more than 105,600 car accidents were reported in 2019 alone. These crashes resulted in over 574 fatalities and many more injuries. While some accidents occur due to no fault on either party’s part—such as inclement weather or mechanical failure—many are caused by negligence or recklessness on the part of one or both drivers involved in the crash.

As a society, it is important that we take steps towards preventing such tragedies from occurring in the future. This may involve taking courses or seminars on defensive driving techniques or following traffic laws strictly and consistently. Additionally, drivers should practice caution when driving near college campuses and residential areas; these areas tend to be populated with pedestrians that may not be paying attention while crossing streets due to distractions from cell phones or other devices. Moreover, if you have had more than two drinks within an hour before driving—even if you feel “okay”—you should not get behind the wheel; instead call a friend for a ride home or use public transportation options available in your area!

Our thoughts remain with Mahrokh Khan’s family and friends during this difficult time. We hope that by sharing her story we can spread awareness about car safety practices amongst fellow VCU students as well as throughout our broader community so that we can prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. By taking necessary precautions such as proper defensive driving techniques, obeying traffic laws consistently, being mindful of pedestrians near college campuses & residential areas and never getting behind the wheel after drinking alcohol – even if you think it’s safe – we can collectively strive towards creating safer roads for everyone to enjoy! May Mahrokh Khan rest in peace!
