Kimberly Cox, affectionately known as “Kim,” was an exemplary figure in her community and is remembered by loved ones as a devoted nurse and strong union steward. Born on August 26, 1972 in Flint, Michigan, she lived a life full of family and accomplishment. She was the daughter of Kathleen Humphries and Edward Doyle, the mother to Gabrielle “Bell” and Blaine, the grandmother of Curtis, the ex-wife to Brian Cox, and had five loving nieces and nephews. Throughout her career as a critical care nurse at Ascension Genesys Hospital, she went above and beyond in her service to others through her nursing expertise and dedication to union representation and advocacy on behalf of herself as well as other nurses.

A Life Of Dedication To Nursing

Kim was an intensive care nurse at Ascension Genesys Hospital where she had been for over 20 years. She was also very active as chief union steward and member of the State Board of Nursing. Kim dedicated her life to helping others in any way she could—whether it was providing medical care or just lending an ear to listen. Her commitment to nursing earned her multiple awards throughout her career including the Daisy Award for Nurses which recognizes nurses who demonstrate extraordinary compassion with patients and families on a daily basis. Kim was always willing to go above and beyond for those in need; she was truly selfless.

An Incredible Mother & Grandmother
In addition to being a hardworking nurse and union steward, Kim also dedicated her life to being an incredible mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children (daughter Gabrielle “Bell” & son Blaine) as well as her beloved grandson Curtis. She loved watching Curtis play little league baseball; she would proudly cheer him on from the stands when he played his games each week. She was also known for baking cookies with him every Sunday afternoon—a tradition that will be sorely missed by all who knew them both.
