John Michael Montgomery, a 57-year-old country singer, was injured after being involved in a horrific bus accident in Tennessee near the Kentucky state line on Friday, September 9, 2022.

John was one of the passengers on the tour bus that crashed due to overturning. The accident occurred just south of Jellico on I-75 when the tour bus veered off of the interstate and hit an embankment before overturning. The country music icon was travelling for a performance at a concert in North Carolina when the crash happened.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, “A 2001 Prevost Featherlite tour bus veered off the interstate just south of Jellico, struck an embankment, and crashed. Three people were injured in the accident.”

The injured were identified as the “I Swear” singer, John Michael Montgomery; William Salyer of Staffordsville, Ky.; and Marc Wood of Frankfort, Ky. Among all the injured individuals, only Salyer was not wearing a seatbelt during the bus crash.

What happened to John Michael Montgomery?

Informing all well-wishers about his health status amid the crash incident, the iconic country singer, John Michael Montgomery, shared a post on his Facebook page. In the post, Montgomery wrote, 

“Yesterday we had a serious accident on the way to a performance in North Carolina. Everyone travelling on the bus, including all the crew members, are recovering from their injuries. Despite getting some cuts and broken ribs, I am doing well, but it will take a couple of weeks to heal and get back on the road soon.”

Expressing his gratitude, the singer wrote, “I am grateful to the medics and highway patrol for their quick response to this challenging situation. There have been no further crash-related revelations. Thanks to everyone for their concerns.” 

As per the statement, Montgomery will be taking a break to recover from the injuries, but the date from which he will be resuming the tour is not known yet. The extent of the injuries the other two men have suffered has not been revealed, but the country singer expressed his hope that they will recover soon.
