The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, as well as the many people in the community who were fortunate enough to know him, is mourning the passing of Assistant Chief Jimmy Judge today after a long, courageous fight against ALS(amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in Florida and its circle of friends is grieving the sudden death of Assistant Chief Jimmy Judge, who passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023 after a courageous fight with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) . 32 years serving in the department had earned this beloved husband and father a devoted following, evident when news of his death spread through social media and an outpouring of tributes started popping up online from admiring colleagues and friends. Though Jimmy Judge lost his battle against ALS, his memory will live on forever in the hearts of all he touched within the JSO community.
South Florida Cops – We send our condolences to the family and friends of Assistant Chief Jimmy Judge and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (FL) for his passing after a courageous battle with ALS. Asst. Chief Judge was a 30 year veteran of the department and leaves behind his wife and son. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time and we thank Asst. When people use the term “they broke the mold” they were talking about this very special man! An amazingly empathetic officer and leader, wonderful husband, father and friend. We had no idea you’d be leaving us soooo very quickly. May God bless you Jimmy Judge. May God comfort your wife and son, other family members, so very many colleagues and friends during this most difficult of times.
In the midst of the darkness of loss, may you all find light. In these first weeks, it may only be a spark, deep inside of you, but let that small spark guide you all in the dark journey of grief. As you stumble over the roots of hopelessness and despair, let that light that always lived in this amazing man, grow and illuminate your paths.
