Born as Gloria Rodríguez in Brooklyn, New York City in 1970, Hurricane G was a prominent American rapper of Puerto Rican descent. She rose to fame in the mid-1990s after appearing on Redman’s 1992 hit “Tonight’s da Night.”

She followed it up with another Redman track, “Dare Iz a Darkside” and collaborated with Xzibit on the track “At the Speed of Life.” Her debut album “All Woman” (1997) turned out to be a massive success.

Her 1997 single “Somebody Else” charted at #10 by Billboard Magazine on Hot Rap Singles and at #54 on their Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. Hurricane G continued to sing and rap in both English and Spanish for a long career spanning over 25 years.

Hurricane G died on Sunday, November 6, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. The news of her death was confirmed shortly later. However, no cause of death was revealed that led to Hurricane G’s death.

The revolutionary rapper has left behind her daughter, Lexus, who revealed that her mother was suffering from lung cancer. “My mom has stage 4 lung cancer,” she wrote.

“I don’t know how many of you understand what that means but even after 30 years of life Im still trying to process it myself. I have never cried so much in my life I have never felt so disconnected from reality in my life.”

Fans believe that Hurricane G died of lung cancer as she had been struggling with the disease for a long time and was in its terminal phase.
