Prior to joining Tottenham Hotspur, Ventrone had two brief stints with Juventus. He worked as a fitness trainer from 1994 to 1999 for Marcello Lippi’s squad, which was on a rampage during that era. He returned to the club in 2001 and stayed till 2004.
Ventrone was a member of Lippi’s staff when Italy won the World Cup in 2006. He also worked as an assistant manager at Ajaccio in France and trained Jiangsu Suning and Guangzhou Evergrande in China. He was a greatly venerated personality everywhere.

“I have a really, really good relationship with Gian Piero. So obviously his English is not perfect, sometimes he is coming with his phone and translating into English from Italian,” said Son Heung-Min, the South Korean star who was very close to him.

Gian Piero Ventrone died of Leukaemia at the age of 61. Leukemia is a cancer of the blood-forming tissues which hinders the body’s ability to fight infection. The serious condition affects the bone marrow and often turns out fatal.
Ventrone developed the condition a few years ago and passed away today. His condition had been deteriorating recently due to the effects of Leukaemia.

Ventrone’s funeral will take place at the church of San Luigi Gonzaga at 3 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2022, in Via Petrarca, 115 NA.
Gian Piero Ventrone is survived by his children Cinzia, Ivan, and his wife Martina.

“Gian Piero worked as a Juventus athletic trainer, from 1994 to 1999, helping Marcello Lippi build and look after a Juve side that won everything in Italy and Europe. He returned to Turin from 2001 to 2004, enriching his, and our, trophy collection with other victories.
“We will always remember his attention to detail, his work philosophy, and perhaps his greatest talent, the understanding that football – and especially the fundamental components of conditioning and athleticism – was gradually entering a new era.
