It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of veteran Nigerian actor, Femi Ogunrombi best known by many as Papa Ajasco. He passed away on Saturday 14th of January 2023.

Ogunrombi’s name may not have been a popular one, but he remains immortalized in the hit comic story, Papa Ajasco. The series stars a womanising patriarch, a promiscuous mother and doting son who relishes the role of a lover boy – charcters which Ogunrombi brilliantly depicted in the movie. Unknown for many until his recent passing, Ogunrombi made an everlasting mark on this iconic movie, forever remembered for his role as Papa Ajasco.

Husseini Shaibu confirmed Ogunrombi’s death on Sunday with an emotional tweet that highlighted how much Ogunrombi had achieved throughout his career in the theatre industry.

Shaibu wrote, “I have just been reliably informed that the ethnomusicologist, former Music Instructor with @NATIONALTROUPE and one-time stand-in for the ‘Papa Ajasco’ character on the popular @waleadenugaprod Comic Series ‘Papa Ajasco’ Mr. Femi Ogunrombi is DEAD
