Who was Jeff Beck?

Jeff Beck began his career as a member of English rock band The Yardbirds in 1965. After joining their ranks, they released several singles like “For Your Love”, “Heart Full Of Soul”, and “Evil Hearted You”. These songs were staples on both British and American radio stations throughout the 1960s and early 70s. He also performed some of the most iconic guitar solos during this time period like “Shapes Of Things” and “Over Under Sideways Down”. His tenure with The Yardbirds lasted until 1966 when he left due to creative differences with other members of the band.

The Jeff Beck Group

After leaving The Yardbirds, Jeff formed The Jeff Beck Group with bassist Ron Wood and vocalist Rod Stewart. This group released two albums; Truth (1968) and Beck-Ola (1969). These albums featured some classic hits such as “Rice Pudding”, “Morning Dew”, and “You Shook Me” which were praised by both fans and critics alike. Unfortunately tensions within the group caused them to break up in 1969 after only two years together.

Beck-Bogert & Appice Era

In 1971, Jeff formed another band called Beck-Bogert & Appice along with bassist Tim Bogert and drummer Carmine Appice who had previously played with Vanilla Fudge. This group went on to release two albums; 1972’s Beck-Bogert & Appice which featured hit singles such as “Black Cat Moan” and “Superstition”, 1975’s Live In Japan recorded during their Japanese tour that same year which contained live versions of their classic hits as well as some new tracks written specifically for the tour itself . During this period Jeff also created many notable instrumental songs such as “Star Cycle” and “Freeway Jam”.
