Karina Castro, a 27-year-old San Carlos-based woman, was murdered on September 8 by her ex-boyfriend, Jose Rafael Solano Landaeta. The accused committed the crime outside her apartment in the Bay Area city of San Carlos.
The 33-year-old accused, Jose Rafael Solano, was arrested by the local authorities on Friday, September 9 on homicide charges. According to reports, he allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend over a domestic dispute.
Castro is the mother of two children, one of whom is the 1-year-old daughter of the accused, Jose. With the help of the remaining members of Karina’s family, an account has been set up on GoFundMe. The whole amount of money collected from the charity will be used for the bright future and well-being of her children.

According to the information gathered from the witnesses present at the crime scene, the murder was a result of domestic violence only. The witness heard too much noise from Karina’s apartment on the day of the murder. When Karina came out of her apartment after the argument, her ex-boyfriend, Jose Rafael, followed Karina and killed her just outside the apartment.
When people from Karina’s neighborhood saw it, they immediately called the police. By the time the cops reached the crime scene, the woman was already dead. Her dead body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem by the police authorities.

Sheriff’s officials said that after the attack, Landaeta fled on foot two blocks away, but later returned to the crime scene unarmed, and then he was taken into custody, sheriff’s officials said. Jose Rafael has now been booked into jail, where he remains without bail.
How did Jose Rafael Solano kill Karina Castro?
According to the statements from some witnesses, Jose Rafael Solano killed his ex-girlfriend Karina Castro with the use of a sword by beheading her just outside her house in the Bay Area city of San Carlos, California at around 11:50 a.m. on Thursday.
Local media have also reported that the weapon used for Castro’s murder was a sword, but the police authorities have given a different statement.
According to an official statement by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the cause of the murder has been described as a “stabbing instrument.” As both these statements don’t match, there is no actual clarification about how Jose Rafael killed Karina Castro. But all these things will be clarified soon.
The Mayor Pays Tribute to Karina Castro
The Mayor of San Carlos, Sara McDowell, also shared her condolences with Karina and said that the whole community is deeply shocked by Castro’s “tragic” murder.
In a statement, she said, “The City Council and all its employees join our community to express our deepest condolences to the two young children who lost their mother in this horrific and senseless act of violence and to all the victims’ family, friends, and loved ones who suffered this loss as well.”
Mourning at the crime scene on Friday, Martin Castro, Karina’s father, said, “I miss her already. My heart is empty without her. She was my best friend. Along with her father, several of Karina Castro’s friends also paid tribute to their dear friend.
