Eastman was the brother of Paul’s first wife Linda Eastman McCartney who passed away in 1998. The late attorney worked with Paul and his band in their legal procedures and represented the icon.

Who was John Eastman?
John Eastman was a renowned lawyer in New York City. He was an NYU graduate who built a successful law career for himself. He was the brother of the late Linda Eastman McCartney, the first wife of Paul McCartney. Hence, he was also the brother-in-law of the Beatles legend.
John ran the Eastman and Eastman law firm with his father, Lee Eastman. The lawyer then went on to practice Entertainment law and represented The Beatles’ icon, Paul McCartney. He had known him for more than 50 years.
The music attorney was working with Paul during the break up of The Beatles. He later accredited his success in representing the singer to the fact that he had “outworked and outthought the other side.”
John also represented the estate of Francis Bacon and the Kooning family. Furthermore, his firm has been linked with names like David Bowie and Billy Joel. He purchased a luxurious penthouse for more than $26.5 million just last year. John lived there with his wife Jodie.
How did John Eastman die?
John Eastman passed away on August 9, 2022, after having a lengthy battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He had been suffering from the disease for months and his body couldn’t keep up now. His death was announced by his family on August 11, 2022. He was 83 years old.
John’s sister, Linda, also passed away battling another type of cancer. She died on April 17, 1998, due to Breast Cancer. She was only 56 years old.
John and Linda also have two younger sisters Laura and Louise Jr.
Sir Paul McCartney Shares Heartfelt Tribute for Late Brother-in-Law
Paul took to his social media handles to share an emotional tribute announcing the death of his brother-in-law. He posted a picture of the two in a yoga pose on Instagram and Twitter. The caption below the picture read:
“John was a great man. One of the nicest and smartest people I have had the good luck to have known in my life.
He went on to reveal that John wasn’t only his business colleague but also a very good friend with a great sense of humor.
“We had so many fun times together through the years, but when the time came to be serious, he was unbeatable,” Paul wrote.
“There is so much more that can be said of his incredible qualities, but words can hardly describe his passion for life and our affection for this amazing man,” he added.
Paul concluded the post with a heartfelt sentence, “He will be sorely missed but always held dear in the hearts of those of us who knew and loved him. See ya Johnny! Love Paul”
John Eastman is survived by his wife Jodie Eastman. Our heart goes out to his family, friends, and loved ones. May God let the departed soul rest in peace.
