Gail Finney, a Kansas Democratic State Representative, has died on August 20, 2022 at the age of 63. Gail Finney represented District 84 of Wichita in the Kansas Statehouse for 13 years.
Flags on all state buildings will be lowered to half-staff in honor of Representative Gail Finney effective immediately until the day of interment. Governor Laura Kelly said “Kansas lost a warrior today. No one fought harder for her constituents, for her community, for justice and equity than Representative Gail Finney.”
Gail Finney’s Cause of Death?
Finney was first elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 2009 and served until her death. She was a member of the Democratic Party. In recent years, she had been facing some health-related issues and underwent a kidney replacement earlier this year. The exact reason for her death is unknown at this moment.
Gail Finney was a dedicated public servant who earned a huge name and received great love from the public. Her passing has been hard for everyone, her colleagues in the legislature were devastated by her death and recalled her as a passionate advocate for her constituents. Gail Finney was a native of Wichita, Kansas, born on August 16, 1959. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University.
Gail Finney was American business women who has long served on Wichita Chamber of Commerce’s Visioneering Racial, Diversity, Opportunities, and Harmony Board. In addition, she was also Precinct Committee Woman, District 1 advisory board, and the Governor’s Kansas African American Advisory Commission
