DJ Stu Allan died after a year long battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with a gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) last year. Allan had been pretty open about his treatment and recovery. He frequently shared updates on his social media accounts.

Earlier this year, in February, Allan shared an image of himself receiving treatment in a hospital. “Just a bit of an update for the nosey crew,” he wrote in the caption.

“This was me earlier in the week on my next road to recovery receiving ‘treatment’ due to a rare GIST,” he wrote.


Who was DJ Stu Allan?


Stu Allan was born in 1962 in Manchester, England. He was a famous British dance music DJ and producer who worked for Piccadilly Radio and Key 103 in the 1980s and 1990s. He was ranked the No. 3 DJ by DJ Magazine in 1993 for his hip hop, hardcore techno, and house music mixes.

Allan performances significantly influenced the dance music scene of that era. He continued to remain a prolific contributor within the UK hardcore scene throughout his career.

Allan took up DJin between 1984 and 1986. His mixes and remixes were frequently featured on Piccadilly Radio, Manchester, on various shows. Some of his features were with Timmy Mallet, Chris Evans, and Tim Grundy.

“Love Can’t Turn Around” by Farley Jackmaster Funk was the first record Allan played on the radio. He never looked back from here and became a huge attraction at Bowlers in Trafford Park. He was a fan favorite on the scene in the 1990s.
