Who was Alyssa Loya?
We are deeply and profoundly saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Alyssa I. Loya. On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, she passed away at the young age of nine years and twenty days old, just shy of celebrating her tenth birthday. Alyssa was born on February 20th, 2013 in Chicago Ridge, Illinois to Carlos and Gabbi Loya.
From a very early age, Alyssa exhibited her exceptional intellect as well as fine athletic and artistic potentials. She performed exceptionally well in school, competing in numerous academic competitions such as the National Math Olympiad where she placed within the top 10% of all participants. Her unstoppable drive for success also extended to sports with her participating in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from tennis, basketball, gymnastics and swimming all the way to soccer, track & field and volleyball.
Lastly, even without any professional guidance or training whatsoever Alyssa showed off her artistic skills in various art shows over the years culminating with her appearance at last year’s Art Institute of Chicago’s exhibition calling out “Children Create”.
How did Alyssa Loya die? What was the cause of her death?
It is with heavy hearts that we remember the passing of 9-year-old Alyssa Loya and 8-year-old Molly Morris from Norwood Park on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. What makes their passing all the more devastating was the cause – Alyssa had fallen inexplicably ill that afternoon, while Molly died peacefully in her parent’s arms due to a battle with cancer. Our collective sorrow is especially palpable for Alyssa, who left us too soon, taking with her an irreplaceable part of what made us who we were.

Who was Molly Morris? What was her cause of death
Molly Morris was born March 21st 2012 in Norwood Park IL to parents Kevin and Kelly Morris. Over the past 8 years she has shown unbelievable strength and courage while fighting cancer since she was 4 years old. In spite of her disease Molly never stopped smiling or sharing her joy with anyone she met. Many have described Molly as having “an angelic spirit” with a mega-watt smile that could light up any room or bring tears to your eyes when you saw it on a tough day for Molly or just heard about one of hers successes.
Over the last few weeks through all her pain she still thought about others by donating items for families at Lurie Children’s Hospital where she received treatment for most of her life as well as raising money for other charities throughout Chicagoland area . She had recently made plans to join one of those charities once healthy enough but sadly passed away Wednesday night in the arms of her loving parents before being able to do so .
