Born in 1961, Dori Monson hosted the popular afternoon talk radio show on KIRO FM for almost 30 years. He described himself as “right-leaning”, “center right”, or a “libertarian,” and voted for Bob Barr in the 2008 presidential election. Monson began his broadcasting career while he was still attending college at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. In 1991, he was hired as an evening host by KIRO-FM in Seattle; two years later, he moved to afternoons where he remained until his death. The Dori Monson Show aired from noon to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and reached listeners throughout the Puget Sound region with its mix of news, traffic reports, listener calls and interviews with local personalities.
