A deadly shooting took place at the University of Virginia campus that left three people dead. Devin Chandler, the former Wisconsin football player, was among the people who died in the UVA shooting.
Chandler played for Wisconsin football in 2020 and 2021 as a badger wide receiver. This is the second major loss of the football program in less than 24 hours after the death of former tailback Brent Moss.
Who was Devin Chandler?
Devin Chandler was a wide receiver/ return specialist who played with Wisconsin football in 2020 and part of 2021. The North Carolina native was a junior at the university in Charlottesville, Va. He also spent part of his high school career in Tennessee.
Chandler played varsity football for the high school team and had also appeared in six games in his two seasons with the Badgers. He averaged 26.0 yards on six kickoff returns, had two receptions for 28 yards, and rushed once for 18 yards, in 2020.
Despite a good year, Chandler didn’t see his playing time increase in 2021. However, he entered the transfer portal in October after finishing the 2021 season with a 21.3-yard average on four kickoff returns.

Police Chief Tim Longo announced that the suspect was a former Virginia football player Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. He had been taken into custody as the investigation continues. A lockdown was imposed on the campus that ended on Monday.
