I’m sorry to post this terrible news but yesterday afternoon, Martyn Pearson and Alex Olsen (owners of Gila Hike & Bike in Silver City) were killed in a head-on car crash near Deming, NM. This is, of course, a crushing blow to our community but also to so many who benefitted from the support and grace of this little shop at the end of so many long journeys. They were at the heart of so many good things here and there aren’t words to describe the loss to all of us. There will be a vigil tonight at 6PM Mountain time in Gough Park in Silver City. Keep them and their two surviving teenage children in your thoughts.
