Gwen Casten Daughter of Sean Casten Died
Sean Casten, a U.S. Representative, revealed on Monday that his 17-year-old daughter had died.
Gwen Casten’s congressional office sent the following message on Monday evening, announcing that she had gone away. More information about the passing was not provided by the congressman’s office for now.
Sean office responded, “The Casten family wants privacy, and we will make no additional comment during this difficult time.”
According to Downers Grove police, officers were dispatched to Casten’s residence at 6:48 a.m. on Monday morning after complaints of an unconscious adolescent, who later notified first responders that she had died. The site was attended by the DuPage Coroner’s Office, and the cause of death is being examined.
The Downers Grove Democrat is running for a third term in Congress in the newly created 6th District, and is facing off against current Rep. Marie Newman and another candidate, Charles Hughes, in a Democratic primary.
In February, Casten’s campaign posted a photo of his daughter Gwen carrying the petition she was holding.

Newman’s campaign said that it was attempting to “immediately” cease any similar commercials for the campaign.

In a statement, Newman said, “My heart hurts for the Casten family on the tragic death of their daughter.” “Sean, Kara, and the entire Casten family are in my thoughts and prayers.”
Casten and his wife are the parents of two girls.
